You can CLONE both Survey Templates and Email invitation templates to make it even quicker to create new templates. 

Navigate to the CUSTOMISE tab, then Email Template Designer or Survey Designer. Here you will see the CLONE option on the main menu page.

The CLONE will appear in the list of templates. You can then EDIT as you would a new template.
